Resolutions was designed for the window installation at Not Just a Shop, commissioned from Catherine Chinatree by Artquest for their 20th anniversary, in response to the artist’s daily bathing in the Sea at the Walpole Bay Tidal Pool in Margate, UK. Chinatree’s image plays with the push and pull of the cold water and the ecstatic responses to it of the bathers.
Chinatree is a multidisciplinary visual artist living in UK. She studied at Wimbledon College of Arts, was awarded the Ferdynand Zweig Arts travel Scholarship award and has set up a collaborative engagement project between the UK and Havana, Cuba. She was shortlisted for the Mercury Music Arts Prize, Nastys Woman NYC and The Griffin x Elephant New Graduates Arts Prize, completing an artist residency with ElephantLab, London before being commissioned by Artquest for their 20th anniversary, on show at UAL in Holborn, London.
